  • Norwegian F-35s Return to Iceland for NATO mission
  • F-35 Partner Norway returned to Iceland for NATO Air Policing in 2021. The purpose of the NATO mission is to provide air surveillance and interception coverage over Iceland to maintain the integrity of the NATO airspace. With the integration of the F-35, the new combat capabilities of NATO allies ensure state-of-the-art protection. The Air Policing Mission is also solid preparation and practice for Norway since the Quick Reaction Alert duties that F-35s perform will also be part of their duties at Evenes Air Station in 2022.
