  • Second F-35B Squadron Officially Established In Indo-Pacific Region With The Redesignation Of VMFA-242
  • The Marines now have a second F-35B unit in the Indo-Pacific! Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 12 re-designated Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242 as part of the Marine Corps' ongoing transition process from legacy F/A-18s to the F-35B. The increased capability of F-35Bs, along with other 5th generation capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region, enables further support when called upon to Fleet Marines, Joint and Allied partners. With the addition of VMFA-242, MAG-12 is now the only overseas unit with two permanently stationed F-35B squadrons.(Read more...)
