Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center in Wisconsin is one of the premier training installations in the country due to its expansive airspace, which is used to simulate the combat environment for warfighters. Held from August 10-21, Northern Lightning is a tactical level, joint training exercise that will focus on offensive counter-air with simulated surface-to-air attacks and the integration of multiple air platforms. A variety of the world’s most advanced aircraft will gather to train, including the F-35. Training in this manner is essential for readiness and enhancing partnerships.
