  • Project Convergence 2022 Integrates Info from U.S. F-35, U.K. Rocket System
  • Project Convergence is a U.S. Army-led exercise. Last October and November, Project Convergence 2022 was the first trinational exercise in the Project Convergence series that aimed to bolster fighting in a multidomain battlespace between the U.S., U.K., and Australia. Greater collaboration among each of the nation’s military branches along with partner nations will pose multiple threats for adversaries.

Together, the joint forces concentrated on improving the sensor-decider-effector chain, in addition to developing strategies to sort, process, and turn reams of battlefield data into actionable intelligence that was accessible to U.S. forces and their allies.

One of the most successful demonstrations that highlighted the sensor-decider-effector chain was the integration of a U.S. F-35 as a sensor with the U.K. Multiple Launch Rocket System as the effector. This involved the F-35 leveraging its Electro-Optical Targeting System, transmitting the targeting data over a U.S. network to the U.K. rocket system. Having received this information, the U.K. artillery system engaged the target (a disused armored personnel carrier hull) without a “human in the loop.”
