- “Blast From the Past:” The X-35C’s First Flight

The successful test flights of the X-35 planes during the joint strike fighter competition over twenty years ago were executed by talented teams from government, military, and industry. Glen Harbison, lead flight test engineer, and Steve Reller, flight test crew chief, were there Dec. 16, 2000, when the X-35C successfully took to the sky.
The next feature in the F-35 Joint Program Office’s Blast From the Past series discusses the inaugural flight of the X-35C, the concept demonstrator aircraft that laid the foundation for the F-35C Lightning II. The C is the aircraft carrier capable variant.
