  • Marine Corps F-35Bs and HIMARS Train With Indo-Pacific Allies
  • The lethality of fifth generation aircraft paired with long-range rocket systems can’t be beat in the current combat environment.

The U.S. Marine Corps joined its F-35Bs from Marine Fighter Attack Squadrons 121 and 242 with U.S. Army HIMARS, also known as High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, for elite training in the Indo-Pacific with Japan and the Philippines. The two exercises – Kamandag in the Philippines and Resolute Dragon in Japan - started and concluded this October and included nearly 3,000 Marines.

The stealth jets and the long-range, mobile, precision fire launcher could be used to disrupt an adversary’s amphibious assault in the Indo-Pacific. The F-35’s stealth capabilities make it increasingly difficult for the enemy to detect, and its computers can share targeting data with other aircraft and weapons like HIMARS. The truck mounted HIMARS can strike targets 50 miles away and rapidly move around the battlefield making it tough for the enemy to pinpoint. U.S. Combines HIMARS with Stealth Fighters for New Training Exercises (newsweek.com)
