- NETHERLANDS DEPLOY F-35 FIGHTER JETS TO NATO’S AIR POLICING IN BULGARIA
-
It is crucial that NATO allies stand united in the face of adversaries. For the first time, Netherlands F-35s deployed to Bulgaria on April 6 under the enhanced Air Policing mission integrating with the Alliance's enhanced Vigilance Activities in the airspace of the eastern flank countries. The Russia-Ukraine war continues, and the F-35 is ready to defend its NATO allies and partners through collaboration that will reinforce robust deterrence against Russian aggression.
Four Royal Netherlands Air Force F-35s landed at Graf Ignatievo Air Base near Plovdiv, Bulgaria, to safeguard the skies with the Bulgarian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jets in April and May. In addition to keeping allies safe, participation in this joint mission enhances the capability and interoperability of allied air forces.
