- Indo-Pacific F-35 Operations Demonstrate Regional Strength
-
Operations in the Indo-Pacific continue as NATO allies, united by the F-35, keep a vigilant watch on the war in Ukraine. On March 10, Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) F-35As conducted the first-ever air-to-air training between JASDF F-35As and United States Air Force F-35As over the Sea of Japan. The drill marked a major milestone in the improvement of Japan’s air defense ability and Japan-U.S. joint response capabilities. On March 15, the U.S. Navy carried out a demonstration in international airspace by Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and Marine F-35Cs from USS Abraham Lincoln, along with regionally based U.S. Air Force aircraft. This demonstration followed the recent launches days prior of North Korea intercontinental ballistic missiles that is a violation of multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions and posed a threat to regional neighbors and the international community. The United States and the F-35 remain committed to the defense of its partners Republic of Korea, Japan, and the Indo-Pacific region.
