Mr. Gregg Costabile
Mr. Gregg Costabile, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Director of Engineering for the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office in Arlington, VA. The JSF Program Office is the Department Defense's agency responsible for the development, production, and sustainment of the F-35A/B/C Lightning II, the next generation strike aircraft for the Air Force, Marines, Navy, and Partner Nations. Mr. Costabile is responsible for sound systems engineering processes and product integrity of all aspects of DoD's largest acquisition program. The F-35 Lightning II is postured to deliver global strike capabilities to US warfighters, partner nations, and foreign customers well into the future.
Mr. Costabile entered civil service in November 1985 and was assigned to the Armament Development Test Center, 3246 Test Wing, Compatibility Branch, Eglin AFB, FL. His initial focus was on weapons compatibility testing with F-4, F-15, F-16, F-111, A-7, and A-10 aircraft, as well as the development and implementation of test range instrumentation systems. He later served as lead test and aircraft integration engineer in the 46th Test Wing for a variety of aircraft / weapon programs that included the Joint Direct Attack Munition and Joint Air to Surface Standoff Missile. His level of responsibilities expanded as he entered into the chief engineer role for the Small Diameter Bomb program and later, the Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile. He then broadened his leadership perspectives as an Executive Officer for the Air Armament Center leadership.
In 2006, Mr. Costabile was selected as the Director of Engineering for the Air Dominance Division that included the development, production, and sustainment of the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile fleet, the HARM Targeting System, the AIM-9X, and the HARM Control Section Modification System.
