The F-35 Lightning II Program (also known as the Joint Strike Fighter Program) is the Department of Defense's focal point for defining affordable next generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The F-35 will bring cutting-edge technologies to the battlespace of the future.

The JSFs advanced airframe, autonomic logistics, avionics, propulsion systems, stealth, and firepower will ensure that the F-35 is the most affordable, lethal, supportable and survivable aircraft ever to be used by so many warfighters across the globe.

Pentagon and Lockheed Martin Deliver 300th F-35 Aircraft: F-35 Enterprise Ramps Up Production and Reduces Costs

6 June - UK Welcomes Four F-35Bs to RAF Marham
It's a new beginning for the United Kingdom with the arrival of their first F-35s in country. Four F-35Bs departed MCAS Beaufort 6 June and made the trans-Atlantic flight to RAF Marham.

1 June - Pratt & Whitney and F-35 Program Office Announce Contract Award for 135 F135 Engines
The F-35 Joint Program Office announced a contract award 31 May to Pratt & Whitney for the 11th lot of F135 propulsion systems which will power all three variants of the F-35. Since 2009, production costs have been reduced by more than 50 percent and prices for the 135 engines procured in Lot 11 continue to go down. More than 375 F135 engines have been delivered to date.

There’s dark on shore; then there’s dark at sea. There’s no real comparison. So it wasn’t entirely clear how well the F-35 Lightning II night vision system would perform during its first shipboard evaluation.
